TIC STUDENTS - WEEK 1-6

What is thinking into Character?

Thinking into Character is a 12-week online Personal Development program, designed for students and unique to Regent College London. All lessons are available on a digital platform www.tic.uk.com

The TiC programme covers a very wide range of topics on the theme of self-development, including:

  • How to set yourself challenging academic, professional and personal goals
  • How to bridge the gap between intention and action
  • How to identify negative reflexive habits and replace these with positive and pro-active habits, in order to be more efficient, resourceful and more successful

Why is this part of my programme?

The psychological research suggests that students with a positive and proactive mind-set are more successful, not only in the course but in their business and personal lives. The purpose of the course is to help you develop the mind-set required for success. We hope this this will help each of you to become even more ambitious, confident, focused, empowered, resilient and driven achieving big life-changing goals, both in and outside of the classroom.

Students with a positive, pro-active mind-set preform better long-term in education, in business and in life

What will Thinking into Character activity look like?

  • You will be introduced to the first 6 of 12 lessons in your Business Studies lectures
  • Every fortnight, you will be required to complete one of the 6 exercises below.
  • You will work on these activities independently, and you teacher will let you know in which weeks you are completing which exercises What do I have to do?

  • Step 1 | Watch one lesson video (20 mins max)
  • Step 2 | Complete exercises related to lesson video (20 mins max)
  • Step 3 | Complete a multiple-choice questionnaire online to assess your learning (10 mins max)

How do we check you have done the work?

  • We are able to see data on which students have completed the multiple-choice questionnaire (step 3) and which students have not. We will use this data to act as evidence of your engagement so it is vitally important that you complete Step 3.
  • The multiple-choice questionnaire (step 3) will check your knowledge and understanding of central concepts from the lesson video (step 1) and the lesson activities (step 2). That is why Step 3 can act as PROOF of engagement.
  • As this is a self-study activity, we will assume that you have not engaged in the course if step 3 is not completed.

Where is the Participants (Students) Handbook?

Please download the Participant handbook and complete the activities offline, as the document will not save your changes if it is completed online.

You do not need to hand in the Thinking into Character exercises to any teacher. We do recommend that you keep the activities for your own files as evidence of your engagement in a personal and professional development programme.

For some students, these exercises can form part of your self-reflection portfolio (this is dependent on your unit of study)
